Name
The unique soil and microclimate are reflected in the wine’s personality. Cantemerle has a brilliant color, a powerful bouquet, and a soft, lively flavor. It is rare to find such refined fruitiness. This great wine can be enjoyed young, when its charming, fruity, and marked by a vanilla taste which comes from well-integrated oak. 93 points.
Price: $33.99
The aromatics are tightly wound at first, opening with each swirl to reveal blackberry, crushed stone, peony and cracked black pepper scents. It is quintessential Brane-Cantenac. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins that lend this Margaux unerring sym. Indeed, this is the finest balanced Brane-Cantenac that I have encountered to date. It is almost pixelated in quality and very focused, with wonderful depth, precision and gentle grip toward the finish. So much energy is packed into this wine that it is almost impossible to detect the 100% new oak. 99 points.
Price: $95.99
Juicy and lively, cool and crisp with concentrated but cool tannins that give the structure and density. It’s massy, full, upfront, but retains a charm in that nothing is harsh or austere or too spiced. It’s full but there’s something very captivating about this, has excitement and vibrancy and will be totally delicious and moreish when the time is right. Lovely acidity, beautiful red fruits, crisp and tense yet layered and ripe, mineral too. Gives you the emotion! Harvest 7-27 September. Ageing in French oak, 60% new, 40% one year old. 96 points.
Price: $60.99
Flowers, espresso, black cherries, licorice, and cocoa fill the aromatics. On the palate, the wine is elegant, fresh, creamy, long, and refined. The fruits are ripe, sweet, and refined, as well as vibrant and, most importantly, pure. The tannins are silky, and even with all this ripeness and concentration, the wine remains light on its feet, leaving you with a sensuous endnote. This is the best vintage of d’Issan I have ever tasted! The wine is made from a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. 98 points.
Price: $81.99
A perfect expression of the rich, powerful character of this vintage, this wine harmoniously blends a lovely fruity structure (Bigarreau cherry) with lively, sappy citrus notes. Full-bodied tannins of great elegance stretch through to a finish with refreshing mineral and chalky notes. 98 points.
Price: $130.00
Plums, blackcurrants, dark chocolate and perfumed aromas on the nose. Smooth and bright, silky, sharp, intense but so likeable, a shot of high acidity really sets the tone, this is zinging with energy, bite and power. It’s a look at me wine with a strawberry and red cherry sweetness as well as herbal savouriness that hits the mid palate creating a mouthwatering juiciness and sense of structure. The power comes in after a few minutes, alongside minerality and wet stone touches to the fine but present tannins. Streamlined, focused and confident. Cleverly constructed with lots to like, will age well and has lovely Pauillac touches. 96 points.
Price: $285.00
Bilberry and other wild berry notes accompanied by spice, pepper and a touch of violet combine in a rich and complex array. The freshness of licorice and mineral notes is in perfect balance with the controlled power provided by silky, well-integrated tannins, revealing all the elegance and precision of this very fine wine. 97 points.
Price: $100.00
This vintage is lovely, bursting with aromas of blackberries and cherries mingled with notions of orange zest, rose petals and violets. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and gourmand, with lively acids and a bright, chalky finish, its low pH of 3.54 reflects a decade of organic farming and the limestone subsoils that characterize this sector of Pauillac. 99 points.
Price: $53.99
Olivier Bernard’s 40th vintage at Chevalier (and maybe his best?), this vintage is celebrated by a beautiful special label featuring an image from 1941 of a galloping horse. Picked from September 5th to 30th, this is made from 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. 14% alcohol. For Olivier the 2022 combines all the great elements of the recent top vintages – the classicism of the 2016, the plumpness of the 2018, the subtlety of the 2019 and the elegance and depth of the 2020. 98 points.
Price: $87.99
Deep purple in color, and the fruits are equally deep. You find blackberries, black currants, and black cherries before its nuances of smoke, cigar box, barbecue, smoked meat and roses. On the palate, there is intensity, depth of flavor, concentration, and layers of fruit. But the wine is also lifted, fresh and energetic. It is easy to taste. The finish is rich, long, vivacious, and palate-filling. The wine blends 51.7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43.2% Merlot, and 5.1% Cabernet Franc, 14.15% ABV, 3.95 pH. Harvesting took place, August 29 – September 19. Yields were 28 hectoliters per hectare, making this the lowest yields since 1991 with 50% of the harvest going into the grand Vin. 98 points.
Price: $410.00
Very dark, almost black in color. Rather discreet on the nose to begin, with notes of red fruit and spices. On swirling, the full potential of the nose is revealed, with red fruit (cherry, raspberry), black fruit (wild blackberry, blueberry), spices (liquorice, Zan sweets), notes of light tobacco, star anise… The nose is very attractive, complex and deep, very typical of the Graves. Impressive on the palate, while remaining approachable. It starts with a broad and smooth attack with plenty of energy followed by density and concentration on the mid-palate, with finely crafted tannins and a very soft texture, leading to a very long finish. 100 points.

he 2022 Vieux Château Certan checks in as 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 18 months in two-thirds new French oak. Incredible aromatics of blackcurrants, mulled cherries, chocolate, woodsmoke, and flowery, spicy nuances all give way to a full-bodied Vieux Château Certan that builds incrementally on the palate, with flawless overall balance, a deep, layered mouthfeel, and velvety tannins. I love everything about this beauty, and while it’s almost impossible to resist today, it’s going to benefit from a decade in the cellar and shine for 40+ years. 100 points.
Price: $175.00
The wines are deep, concentrated, sensuous, complex, and age-worthy. These are some of the most hedonistic wines I have ever tasted from Pomerol. While they are expensive, in the years to come, they are going to be sought after, enjoyed, and discussed in the same manner as the most exalted vintages of the past. A blend of 98% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Laroque is deep garnet-purple in color. It prances out with showy scents of warm black plums, blueberry compote, and chocolate-covered cherries, giving way to wafts of underbrush, violets, and Sichuan pepper. 97 points.
Price: $39.99
Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, cherries, exotic spices, bay leaf and orange zest, it’s full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with incredible concentration without weight, supple tannins and a seamless, complete profile, concluding with a long, saline finish. 100 points.
Price: $160.00
The flagship 2022 Château Calon Ségur checks in as 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It’s a massive wine from this château that brings a fabulous nose of darker currants, smoked tobacco, chocolaty oak, graphite, and loamy earth. This full-bodied, deep, unctuous Saint-Estèphe has a round, layered mouthfeel, remarkably pure tannins, and flawless overall balance. 98 points.
Price: $155.00
The complex aromatic profile offers its black cherries, tobacco wrappers, cedar, herbs, and blackberries with a single swirl. The palate is even better with its multiple layers of perfectly ripe, elegant, deep, concentrated black, and dark red pit fruits. The finish is silky, fresh, vibrant, and long. The purity in the back end leaves a lasting impression! The wine blends 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot. 97 points.

Lively and full-bodied, this vintage delights with its freshness and fruity structure, with notes of blackcurrant, morello cherry and pear. Aromas of liquorice and pepper draw out harmoniously to a long finish. Storage This Saint-Julien wine can be laid down until 2055. 96 points.

Dense and pliant, with striking mid-palate depth and exquisite balance, this is pure sensuality. Red cherry, apricot, blood orange, wildflowers and spices all meld together as the 2022 opens in the glass. Seamless, refined tannins extend the mid-palate and finish. The purity of the fruit is remarkable. 100 points.
