Our February Wine of the Month is the 2023 Masseria Li Veli “Passamante” Salice Salento IGT.

This wine comes from the Salento region of Puglia, Italy and is made from the grape negroamaro. The name “Passamante” comes from the wooded area that surrounds the vineyard. The negroamaro vines were planted in 2010, in the clay and limestone soils of the region. Average yield is around 7,000 kg per hectare. Fermentation happens in stainless-steel tanks and then the wine spends 6 months in 225-liter barriques to add complexity and help round it out. It is then aged in the bottle for 3 months before release.

The wine opens with bright, perfumed fruits such as plums, cherries, and blood oranges followed by a slight savoriness. Silky tannins lead you through its medium bodied palate with flavors of plums, leather, and coffee.

Pair the Passamante with spaghetti and meatballs, wild boar, or even a caprese salad.

The Passamante will be $15.99 for this month only.

We hope you enjoy our February Wine of the Month!
